Most pages that answer this question do not answer it. They say "it depends" for six paragraphs and then ask you to book a call. So here is the whole thing up front, and then the reasoning behind each number.
There are three separate costs, and people confuse them constantly:
- The software. Paid to GoHighLevel, every month, forever.
- The setup. Paid once, to whoever builds the thing.
- What you cancel. Money that stops leaving your account.
Number three is the one nobody puts in the calculation, and for a lot of businesses it is large enough to change the answer.
1. The software: $97 to $497 a month
GoHighLevel publishes its own pricing, and as of August 2026 it looks like this:
| Plan | Price | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97/month | One business. Everything you need to run your own funnels, CRM, calendar, email and SMS. |
| Unlimited | $297/month | Agencies running multiple client accounts, plus white-label options. |
| Agency Pro | $497/month | Agencies reselling GoHighLevel as their own SaaS product. |
Check their pricing page before you sign up, because this changes.
If you are a coach, consultant, or a single local business, you want Starter at $97. You do not need Unlimited. The upgrade only makes sense when you are creating separate accounts for other people's businesses. I mention this because I have seen people put on the $297 plan by someone who benefits from that, and it does nothing for them.
There is one thing on top: SMS and email are billed by usage, not included. You load a wallet and it draws down. For a small business sending appointment reminders and follow-ups, this tends to land somewhere in the region of a few dollars to twenty dollars a month. If you are sending thousands of texts it is more. It is real money, but it is not a hidden trap, you can see the balance and the per-message rate inside the account.
2. The setup: $0 to a few thousand
This is where the range is genuinely wide, because "setup" means five different things depending on who is saying it.
Doing it yourself: $0 and roughly 40 to 80 hours
It is possible. The platform has documentation and there is a lot on YouTube. If your time is genuinely free and you enjoy this kind of thing, do it yourself and skip the rest of this page.
Be honest about the hours though. It is not one weekend. The parts that eat time are not the obvious ones: it is the automation logic, the domain and DNS connection, the calendar and payment integrations, and the twenty small settings that are wrong by default and produce no error message when they are wrong. You find out three weeks later that nobody has received a confirmation email.
A cheap freelancer: $50 to $300
You will get a funnel that looks like the template it came from and an automation or two. What you usually will not get: the DNS done properly, the pipeline stages mapped to how you actually sell, the follow-up written for your offer rather than filled with placeholder text, or anyone to ask when something breaks in week three.
Sometimes this is exactly the right purchase. If you already know the platform and you just want someone to do the clicking, it is fine.
A proper build: $400 to $3,000+
Here is what I charge, so you have at least one real number to anchor on:
- $397 one-time for a starter setup: one funnel, calendar, pipeline, and the core automations, connected to your domain and tested end to end.
- $1,497 one-time for a full system: website, multi-step funnels, the full email and SMS sequences, booking, missed-call text-back, forms, pipelines, and a live handover call.
- $497/month if you want me to keep running and extending it after launch rather than hand it over.
Agencies in the US and UK typically charge more than this for the same work, sometimes considerably more. I am in Bangladesh, which is the entire explanation. The work is the same work.
3. What you cancel
This is the part that turns the cost question upside down. GoHighLevel is not an extra tool, it is a replacement for a stack. Add up what you are paying now:
- Funnel or website builder
- Email marketing platform
- Scheduling tool
- CRM
- SMS tool
- Form builder
- Sometimes a course or membership platform
- Sometimes the Zapier plan that holds the whole thing together
A fairly ordinary version of that stack runs somewhere between $150 and $400 a month. Against $97, the software often pays for itself on day one, before anything it does for your business is counted.
Go and look at your actual card statement before you decide. Not what you think you pay, what you actually pay. Most people are surprised.
So what does it really cost?
For a single business doing this properly:
- First month: $97 software + your setup cost.
- Every month after: $97, plus usage for texts and emails, minus whatever you cancelled.
If your current stack costs $200 a month, and you paid $397 once for the build, you are ahead within about four months and cheaper forever after that. If your current stack is one $20 tool and a spreadsheet, the honest answer is that you are paying more, and the case has to be made on what the automation does rather than on savings.
When you should not buy it
I would rather you not waste the money, so:
- You have no traffic and no leads. GoHighLevel is a machine for handling leads. If nothing is coming in, build the front of the funnel first. A perfect CRM with nothing in it is an expensive spreadsheet.
- You are happy with your current stack and it is not costing you anything. "Everything is in one place" is real value, but it is not worth a migration if nothing is broken.
- You will not use the automation. The entire return is in the follow-up happening without you. If you know you will turn the sequences off, buy something simpler.
The questions worth asking whoever quotes you
Whether you hire me or someone else, ask these. The answers separate a build from a template dump.
- Does the price include connecting my own domain? DNS is where most cheap setups quietly stop.
- Who writes the emails and texts? If it is you, that is fine, but know it before you agree.
- What happens when it breaks in week three? Get a real answer with a real time window.
- Do I own the account? The account should be in your name, on your card, with you as the owner. If someone else holds it, you are renting your own business.
- Can I see it before I pay? I build a demo first and show it to you. Anyone can do this. If they will not, ask why.
That last one is the whole test. You should be able to see the thing working before money moves.
