Your website is not showing up on google wix because a setting is blocking search engines or Google has not crawled your domain yet. You fix this by checking your Wix site indexing toggles, connecting Google Search Console, and submitting your sitemap manually.

When your website is not showing up on google wix, you need to stop waiting. Google does not automatically know your site exists just because you hit publish. You have to find the exact roadblock and remove it manually today. Here is how you diagnose and fix the problem.

Confirm you are actually missing from Google

Before you change any settings, you need to know if you have an indexing problem or a ranking problem. An indexing problem means Google does not have your site in its database at all. A ranking problem means Google has your site, but puts it on page fifty. You fix an indexing problem with technical settings. You fix a ranking problem with better words on the page.

Open Google and type site:yourdomain.com into the search bar. Do not use spaces. Replace the domain with your actual website address. Hit enter.

If Google returns a list of your pages, your site is indexed. You just have poor visibility. You need to work on your content and keywords to move up the results.

If Google says your search did not match any documents, you are not indexed. A technical block is stopping the search engine from reading your website. This is what you need to fix right now.

Check the global Wix indexing toggle

Wix has a master switch that controls whether search engines can see your site. This is the most common reason your website is not showing up on google wix. Developers often turn this off while building a site so unfinished pages do not leak onto the internet. They simply forget to turn it back on.

Go to your Wix dashboard. Click on Settings. Click on SEO. Look for the toggle labelled Let Search Engines Index Your Site.

If this toggle is off, Wix is actively telling Google to go away. Turn it on.

Once you flip this switch, you still have to wait for Google to notice the change. You can speed this up by manually requesting a crawl later in this process.

Inspect individual page visibility settings

Your global setting might be on, but individual pages can still be hidden. Every single page on your Wix site has its own SEO panel with its own visibility controls.

Open the Wix Editor. Go to your Pages menu. Click the three dots next to your homepage. Select SEO Basics.

Scroll down and look for the toggle that says Let Search Engines Index This Page. If this is turned off, Google will ignore the page completely.

You need to check this setting for every important page on your site. Check your services page, your about page, and your contact page. A single wrong click during the design phase can hide your most valuable pages from the search results.

Remove password protection from public pages

Google cannot fill in a password. If you put a password on a page, Googlebot hits a wall and leaves.

Sometimes business owners password-protect their site during construction. When they launch, they remove the password from the homepage but forget the other pages.

Go back to your Pages menu in the Wix Editor. Click the three dots next to a page and select Settings. Click on the Permissions tab. Make sure the page is set to Everyone.

If you have a members area, those pages will never show up on Google. That is normal. Your public marketing pages must be completely open.

Connect Google Search Console to your Wix site

You cannot fix search problems blindly. You need Google Search Console. This is a free diagnostic tool from Google that tells you exactly how the search engine sees your site. It is the only tool that gives you accurate data about your indexing status.

Go to Google Search Console and add a new property. Choose the URL prefix option and type in your exact website address. Include the https part of the address. Google will give you an HTML tag to verify you own the site.

Copy this tag. Go back to your Wix dashboard. Click on Settings, then Custom Code. Paste the HTML tag into the Head section. Name the code Google Search Console so you remember what it is. Apply it to all pages and load it on every new page.

Go back to Google Search Console and click verify. If the verification fails, publish your Wix site again to clear the cache and try once more.

Once you are in, you have a direct line to Google. You can see exactly which pages are indexed and which pages have errors.

Submit your sitemap to force a crawl

A sitemap is a list of every page on your website. Wix creates this automatically. You just need to hand it to Google.

Your sitemap lives at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.

Open Google Search Console. Click on Sitemaps in the left menu. Type sitemap.xml into the box and click submit.

This tells Google exactly where to look. It stops Google from having to guess how your site is structured. When you submit the sitemap, Google puts your site in a queue to be crawled. This process can take a few days.

You can also inspect individual URLs. Paste your homepage URL into the top search bar in Google Search Console. Hit enter. Click the button that says Request Indexing. This is the fastest way to get a single page onto Google.

Fix broken canonical tags

A canonical tag tells Google which version of a page is the master copy. If your canonical tags are broken, Google gets confused and drops your pages from the search results.

This often happens in Wix if you do not assign a primary domain properly. You might have a www version and a non-www version of your site.

Go to your Wix dashboard and click on Domains. Make sure your main domain is set as primary. Wix will automatically redirect all traffic to this primary domain.

Next, open the Wix Editor. Go to the SEO Basics panel for your homepage. Click on Advanced SEO. Look at the Canonical URL field. It should point exactly to your primary domain. If it points to an old temporary Wix URL, Google will ignore your real domain. Reset it to the default setting to fix the error.

Check for custom robots text blocks

Wix allows you to edit your robots text file. This file gives instructions to search engine bots.

If you or a developer messed with this file, you might have accidentally blocked Google completely. A single line of bad code will render your site invisible.

Go to your Wix dashboard. Click on SEO. Click on Tools and Settings. Open the Robots File Editor.

Look for a line that says Disallow: /. That slash means block everything. If you see that, and you want your site to be public, you need to remove it.

Wix provides a button to reset the file to default. Click it. The default Wix robots file is perfectly optimised for search engines. Leave it alone unless you have a specific technical reason to change it.

Resolve domain connection and SSL errors

Google hates broken websites. If your domain is not connected properly, Google will not index it.

Sometimes a Wix site looks fine on your computer because it is cached. The actual domain connection might be broken.

Check your DNS records. You need an A record pointing to the Wix IP address and a CNAME record pointing to the Wix servers. If these are wrong, your site will load inconsistently. Googlebot will experience connection timeouts and give up.

You also need a working SSL certificate. Google penalises sites without HTTPS. Wix provides SSL automatically, but it can take time to propagate when you first connect a domain.

Wait for the SSL to activate fully before you request indexing in Google Search Console. If the SSL is stuck, disconnect the domain and reconnect it.

Improve thin content and missing keywords

If your website is not showing up on google wix after fixing the technical errors, your content is too thin. Google only ranks pages that provide value to a human reader. If your homepage has one paragraph of text and a basic contact form, Google will not show it to anyone.

You need words on the page. You need to explain exactly what you do, who you help, and where you operate. A search engine reads text to understand your business.

Use the exact phrases your customers type into Google. If you are a plumber in London, put plumber in London in your main heading. Put it in your page title. Put it in your first paragraph. Do not be vague about your services.

Wix has a built-in SEO setup checklist. Use it. It will force you to write proper page titles and meta descriptions. A good page title is the strongest signal you can send to Google about the topic of your page.

If you are struggling to rank a local business against established competitors, you might need to rebuild the site properly. You can read about how we handle this by rebuilding it as a proper local site.

Fix broken image alt text

Google cannot see pictures. It reads the code behind the pictures.

If you upload an image called IMG9942.jpg, Google has no idea what it is. You need to add alt text to every image on your Wix site.

Click on an image in the Wix Editor. Click the settings gear. Type a description into the box labelled What is in the image.

Be literal. If the image is a white van with your company logo, write white plumbing van with company logo. This helps Google understand the context of your page. It also helps your images show up in Google Image Search.

Wait for Google to process the changes

SEO is not instant. When you fix a technical error on Wix, Google does not update its database immediately.

Crawling takes time. Indexing takes time. Ranking takes time.

If you have submitted your sitemap and requested indexing, you have done your job. Check Google Search Console in three days. Look at the Page Indexing report. It will tell you if the pages were accepted or if a new error was found.

Do not keep clicking the request indexing button. It does not make Google move faster.

Focus on building more pages. Write a detailed breakdown of your services. Create a pricing page. The more high quality pages you publish, the more often Google will visit your site. If you want to see how we price our own systems, you can check our pricing structure.

You can also read the official Wix documentation on site indexing issues. They maintain a list of known temporary outages that might affect your visibility.

Avoid common Wix SEO mistakes

Many people ruin their own SEO by trying to be too clever. Keep your setup simple and follow the basic rules of web design.

Here is a list of things you should never do on your Wix site:

  1. Do not stuff keywords into your footer because Google ignores hidden text and penalises the site.
  2. Do not use the same page title for every page because each page needs a unique title to rank.
  3. Do not leave your URL slugs as random numbers but change them to readable words that describe the page.
  4. Do not turn on the site indexing toggle until your site is completely finished and ready for the public.
  5. Do not delete old pages without setting up a redirect in the Wix SEO tools to save your existing traffic.

If you delete a page that Google has already indexed, visitors will click the link in Google and hit a dead end. Google hates dead ends. Use the Wix URL Redirect Manager to point the old URL to a new page. This passes the search value from the old page to the new one.
